Great Swamp A large region of swampland that takes up the entire northern boundary of Valaria, no one family can lay claim to the entire tract, and indeed, all three northern families and the Tates and Veroniques have attempted to make a case for why bits and pieces fall within their domain. Fact of the matter, however, is that the land is owned by none and that strange things happen within its depths... might there be a Gate deep in its tangle? No one knows for sure. |

Bellecourt Lands The people here might be gruff, but the reason for that could be the disunity that presents itself here. The nobles will not make a statement as to which family they will support for the throne, and so the people have been left to make that choice for themselves. The land is fairly flat and windswept, and while the soil is rocky, farming is not impossible. Raising livestock or artisan activities, such as glassblowing, is the main way of life in these parts. |

Bellecourt Mansion - 1 Viewing The Bellecourt Mansion is fairly ornate in layout, the building having been designed by the same architect who created the Balthazar mansion. A rich history lies behind these walls, the result of the family having served as the guards of the royal family for so long, though they have remained mute in the pseudo-war waging around them. The family estate is fairly evenly divided about who to support in the bid for the throne, despite attempts by the head of the family to keep them neutral. |

Benefauld Lands - 1 Viewing Despite the fact that about half of the land within the Benefauld domain has been taken over by swampland, the people here are a surprisingly hardy folk and fairly handy with tools. They have learned how to farm on what land they have that isn't swamp, refining it, and they are accomplished hunters. |

Benefauld Mansion The Benefauld family has lived in this building with the high vaulted ceilings and open structure for a great many years now, and while the halls are not as populated as they had been generations ago - and have not been since the destruction wrought upon them by the Tate ancestor who made the first Contract - their numbers have been slowly rising between avoiding major conflicts and through intermarriage with other blueblood families. Despite the proximity of the Noctis, however, the majority of those permitted to roam the halls are Veronique and Illumine in origin, as keeping to their loyalty to the Charmed Contract families. |

Noctis Lands The Noctis family has held the craggy lands nearest to the Tate family since their arrival generations ago. While the soil might be decent, it is obvious that the focus is clearly more upon refining their nobles in the techniques of the Abyss. With their proximity to the Tates and surrounded by other blueblood families, it is of little surprise that they have allied themselves with the Abyssal Contractors, though the loyalty the people profess to the Tates is surprising: second only to the Noctis themselves. |

Noctis Mansion - 1 Viewing An elegant mansion steeped in shadows and with more than a few cobwebs lurking in the shadows, the Noctis family has lived here since they arrived in Valaria generations ago. The mansion is discernibly smaller than that of nobles, but the attention to detail on the structure makes up for any slight that might be felt there. The design is clearly modeled after the Tate mansion with the gargoyles, the high wall surrounding it, and the imposing nature of the stone guard towers situated about the grounds. |

The Interior The landscape might be dotted with some patches of forest and rivers, but the inner part of the eastern region actually has quite poor soil. It is hard to get any crops to grow here, which is why it is perhaps a good thing that so much of the population lives along the coast and survives on fish. All the meat and greenery that serves to add variety to the diets of the Veronique table is grown in this region, and what doesn't get sold to the nobles finds its way to small markets in the handful of port cities that have sprung up along the coast. The roads are ill-maintained for the most part, not through want of neglect but instead simply because so much energy has been turned towards fishing and boating that it proves easier to simply make use of the rivers for transportation than anything else. |

Coastline - 1 Viewing The crashing of the waves serves as a poignant lullaby, one the inhabitants of the region are well familiar with. With the majority of the people living along the stretch of coast, it becomes obvious that this region of Valaria is quite skilled in all matters regarding boats and fishing. As a matter of fact, the Veronique claim to be able to trace their ancestry back to a time before they came to this land, when they lived in a land across the sea, but since none save the nobles can offer such proof and no one has ever returned from a journey across the sea, no one can confirm the story as true. |

Veronique Mansion An elegant building on the edge of a cliff ravaged by the crashing of waves day and night, it is rumored to be riddled with secret passages created by the movement of the water and the erosion of the rock beneath it. The Veronique are said to keep a Gate here deep within the cliff, and the mansion is often opened to those who wish to train and better their abilities provided they are Charmed Contractors. |

Great Desert A wide expanse of desert that serves as Valaria's southern border, all the southern blueblood families along with the Tates and the Veronique have attempted to lay claims to parts of it. However, like the Great Swamp, the tract is simply too big and troublesome for a single family to hold onto, and so it is left more or less alone. The strange reports that come from it, however, suggest that there could be a Gate to the Abyss hidden somewhere in its sands, so renewed interest in its secrets has bloomed in a slue of territorial claims and quests, though they have yet to yield anything of value to any family... |

Illumine Lands The people here have plenty of fire to them, and indeed, they're almost always ready to work and improve their station in life. The land here is hilly and windswept, and while there aren't a lot of rocks in the soil, water retention is a difficulty that is hard to overcome for the average farmer, as is the backbreaking work of either smoothing the land or farming up and down the inclines. As such, much of the income that finds its way into the Illumine family's purse comes from artisans and craftsmen, potters being among the most prominent professions here. |

Illumine Mansion A hardy mansion whose halls hang with many portraits of past inhabitants, a fine layer of dust has settled across more than a few rooms of the place since the time of the Tate ancestor who made the first Contract. It is no small fact that the Illumine used to be a far larger family and that they were among the hardest hit by the massacres years ago, and between those facts and that they share a border with the Veronique, it is unsurprising they have allied themselves with that family rather than the Tates. |

Malificent Lands - 1 Viewing The Malificents have some decent farmland on the side of their estate that borders the Valendales, but like the Benefaulds, about half of their land actually lies beyond reach in a tract of desert. The people here live in a sort of hushed fear, well aware that their lords are adept at spying, and indeed, that is how the region makes its livelihood, through doing things that other blueblood families can't or won't do. |

Malificent Mansion A large structure that almost seems to be looming over a person, the Malificent family mansion is by all means every inch as foreboding as the Tate family mansion. It is said that untold numbers of people have met their death within those walls, and indeed, the Malificents jealously guard their ancestral home, so it is rare for the family to let anyone into their grounds. That policy has begun to lift in recent generations, however, and a slow trickling of Abyssal Contractors have been allowed in and out of the gates. |

Valendale Lands - 1 Viewing The Valendale family came from the humble beginnings of farmers, and indeed, their land is perhaps the most fertile of the region, supported by extensive aqueducts that traverse the land below the surface and allowed to become stronger since the lords still have not forgotten their roots quite yet. |

Valendale Mansion - 1 Viewing Recently built, and with the remains of construction within the grounds to prove it, the Valendale Mansion is on a design rather similar to that of an extended ranch house, a remnant of the days the family spent as farmers. In spite of this, or perhaps even because of this, the Valendale mansion is renown for their hospitality, and as if that we're enough, the family has not yet taken a side as to whose bid for the throne to support, so their power has been left to lie untapped until someone actively recruits them to a side. |

The Lowlands The part of the area that falls under the Tate family's domain yet only along the borderline is where most of the arable land and livestock are, and as such, the people who abide here are not quite as loyal to the Tates as they might be otherwise. Despite this, however, the nobles know that this is an important asset to them, and as such, they will defend their territory here tooth and nail. The roads here are well-maintained, the result of much of the populace getting around on horseback, though of late, many people travelling in these parts have begun to go missing... |

The Highlands - 1 Viewing The rocky landscape of the mountainside may not be particularly well suited to growing crops, though there are some small terraces in parts for farmers, a great number of people live in these parts. Mining for all kinds of metals, stone, and other types of precious objects that can be extracted from the earth is the primary drive for the economy in these parts, and the stonemasons and jewelers here are rumored to be perhaps the best in Valaria. |

Tate Mansion A foreboding mansion set on a mountain surrounded by ice and guarded by gargoyles, the very outside of the building seems to speak of unknown darkness and despair. High stone walls surround the entire complex, protecting the family from assault from afar, and the guard towers are kept manned at all times. Once, a long time ago, it is speculated that the Tate family was established here to protect Valaria from assault from the other side of the mountains. Whatever the reason, unsavory things are going on behind the walls now, and as if that were not enough, the dark history of the Abyss seems to lie here as a Gate lies beneath the building in the family's crypt, discovered by the ancestor who later wreaked so much havoc among the other bluebloods. |

City Outskirts - 1 Viewing Inhabited by small farms and businesses, the landscape is only broken by the occasional noble retreat. The land here is all under the Balthazar family's control, diminished as it is, and the survivors of the royal family closely guard their crown jewel, so people are investigated thoroughly before being let within the city limits. |

The Market - 1 Viewing A sprawling hub of activity, including inns for travelers and all kinds of shops for locals and visitors alike to frequent, the market of Ryoko is well-known for its trade, and despite the general air of business, it is frequented often by members of nobility and commoners alike. There are some pickpockets and swindlers, sure, and the seedy side of some of the streets are suspicious, but no more so than could be expected of a city of this size. |

General Housing - 1 Viewing Lurking just outside the wrought-iron gates protecting the housing of the nobles, this area of Ryoko is meant for the permanent residents, and while it's clean and safe enough, there is a tangible imbalance between the care shown to these buildings and those inhabited by the bluebloods. |

Noble Estates A sprawling area of beauty, a series of houses are laid out here in the capital for use by member of the noble families whenever they choose to venture to Ryoko. Fighting is prohibited here, though that does not mean it is always abided by. Security is tight and each family fiercely guards their allotment, jealously keeping the buildings in perfect order in an effort to upstage each other. |

Royal Mansion The ancestral home of the Balthazar family, it has since fallen into disrepair and neglect as the family has declined and the attention of many has turned towards selecting the next ruling family. Despite this, however, the mansion is left to the Balthazars, or what's left of them at any rate, as no family is powerful enough to take definite possession of it... yet. |

The Garrisons A series of dungeons found in both the Abyss and the human world, this is where all the kidnapped people are being held. There is a severe lack of communication between them, a worrying sign, but considering that people are being held here and forced into Contracts with Chains, the entire matter is worrying... Upper Abyss The layer of the Abyss that is full of water that comes up to about the ankle and is filled with all manner of Chains, this is the place most Contractors obtain their Chains from and travel through. Time travels differently here, though, so when you enter may not always be when you return... |

Lower Abyss The deepest layer of the Abyss where time moves the quickest, those who remain here can endure for centuries if they so choose. Populated by dusty dolls and abandoned tea sets, it appears to almost have been a child's paradise before being abandoned. |

The Borderlands - 1 Viewing A place created by the stray thoughts of dreamers, the Borderlands are infested with Chains, though those who live here are far different from all the usual Chains of the Abyss. It is said that one cannot lie while in the Borderlands, though since it is the land between wakefulness and dreams, reality may not always be the truth... |
